Dongshih Forestry Culture Park is a distinctive wood art eco-aesthetic park in central Taiwan.

Established in 1959 for the purpose of exploiting the forest resources of Dasyueshan, Dasyueshan Forestry Co., Ltd. was the forerunner of Dongshih Forestry Culture Park and took the lead in introducing the American-style integrated plant to Taiwan upon accepting US-aid funds through bilateral cooperation. Formulating an exemplary wood and forest industry in Taiwan, it was the largest sawmill in East Asia in the 1960s. The plant supplied the piano industry, the furniture industry and the timber business in Fengyuan, Houli and Dongshi Districts of Taichung City with logs and wood, driving economic prosperity in the mountain areas of Taichung City.

Having stopped logging and transporting timber by the end of 1973, Dasyueshan Forest Farm transformed into Dongshih Forestry Culture Park for the sake of preserving part of the valuable historical sites and relics of the forest products industry after 1988. The park is divided into several areas such as a wood sculpture exhibition area, a forestry exhibition area and a round-the-lake hiking trail. The wood sculpture exhibition area aims at bestowing driftwood with regenerative and sustainable vitality by inviting foreign and domestic masters to elaborately create all kinds of woodcarving works of diverse cultural styles using driftwood as their art material. The timber-pond has, on the one hand, developed into the best natural habitat for wild birds and insects; on the other hand, it transforms into a popular sightseeing spot for lotus viewing during the summer. Anyone who wishes to enjoy a wonderful time offered by the natural ecological environment and superb artwork should quickly arrange an intellectual eco-tour to Dongshih Forestry Culture Park.
